Board

The Board is the paramount oversight body of MKI. Board members have been nominated by KZN-DED, KZN-DoE and DST from relevant government departments, business sector, educational institutions and SET (Science and Technology) agencies in South Africa. Nomination and appointment of twelve (12) Board members, including Board Chairman, followed due processes of law and generally accepted principles of democracy in South Africa. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MKI reports to the Board about all matters relating to the management of MKI at regular meetings determined by Board.

The Board shall:

I.Ratify the statute of MKI;
II.Ratify MKI strategic plans and annual budgets;
III.Recommend or ratify appointment/termination of CEO; and
IV.Recommend or ratify reviews of MKI or its programmes.

• President: National Research Foundation - Prof Mangaliso
• HOD: KZN Dept of Education - Dr Cassius Reginald Lubisi
• HOD: KZN Dept of Economic Development - Ms Carol Lynn Cotzee
• CEO: Moses Kotane Institute - Prof Albert Thembinkosi Modi
