Programme 4: Technology and Innovation for Managers

Outline of Programme 4: Technology and Innovation Management (TIM)

Programme four is intended for executives/senior government officials to manage technology and technology management in a structured way so as to be globally competitive. The programme is aimed at executives/senior government officials who will learn how to develop and deploy technology. The duration of the course shall be six (6) months:

The programme consists of the following introductory courses:

  • Technology and Innovation Management
  • Technological Entrepreneurship
  • Systems Engineering and Product Development
  • Innovation strategy
  • Technology Commercialisation
  • Technological Entrepreneurship
  • Special seminar 1: History of S. African Liberation Struggle (non-exam)
  • Special Seminar 2: Science and Technology in Society (non-exam)
  • Ubuntu
The courses offered will be through correspondence. Each course has a one-day contact session. Class attendance is compulsory and important. Distance support is provided via the Internet and complements the contact in the classroom. For this reason, all students are required to have access to the Internet through a suitable browser and be able to take part in discussions using the Internet. Assessment consists of an assignment and an examination in each course. A certificate will be awarded upon satisfactory performance in assignments, examination and compulsory attendance to all four one-day lectures. Special seminars will be organized by MKI management to cater for the non-exam History of S. African Liberation Struggle and Science and Technology in Society modules.
