Job Descriptions for Teaching Positions 2009/10
The Moses Kotane Institute, in partnership with the National Tooling Initiative Programme, requires persons with many years of experience (retired people are welcome) in teaching Math, Physical Science and (Technical) English to assist with a part-time intervention commencing in February 2010.
The Math educator is required to teach for 48 hours over a period of 12 weeks. The focus will be on Ratios and Proportions (5 h), Trigonometry (12 h), Mensuration (16 h) and Basic Algebra (15 h).
The Physics educator is required to teach for 11 hours The focus will be on Definition of Physics and movement (2h), Velocity, Distance and time (2 h), Conversion of velocity measures (2), SI units (1), Pulleys (1), Hydraulics (1) and Materials (2).
The English educator is required to teach for 24 hours. The focus will be on Reading, Writing, Speaking, Hearing, Terminology, Machine tool terms, Safety terms, Business terms, Measurement, and time.
Lessons will be offered to a class of 25 new entrants into the Tool, Die and Mould Apprenticeship at a venue in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The learners will already have Matric or N3 qualification, but they need upgrading.
In addition to teaching, the educator must be capable of motivating the learners to pursue technical education.
