Call for Submissions - Master Trainers

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS –MASTER TRAINERS:
GRADE 12 MATHS, PHYSICAL SCIENCE, LIFE SCIENCE AND ENGLISH
The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) wishes to implement four ‘train the trainer’ capacity building interventions for educators currently in the Public School Sector in the Districts of iLembe, Pinetown, Obonjeni, Sisonke and Umlazi in KwaZulu Natal. The intervention will take place in Durban, commencing in July 2010, as follows:
- Mathematics Educators(Grades 11-12)
- Physical Science Educators(Grades 11-12)
- Life Science Educators( Grades 12)
- English Educators( Grade 12)
We need senior level subject experts to assist in the design and delivery of all programmes, to take place concurrently between 5 and 9 July 2010.
SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES
- Development of an educator training intervention for each subject with a focus on TEACHING METHODOLOGIES appropriate to the subject area, as well as content
- Development of educator resources to supplement the instructor-led training of educators
- Development of assessment tools to monitor the progress and performance of educators on the programmes.
- Co-ordination of the learning interventions, each to be organized as a 5 day bootcamp
- Participation in the recording of the bootcamp for later live Video transmission of interventions to rural locations as required.
THE FOLLOWING OUTPUTS ARE EXPECTED FOR EACH SUBJECT “MASTER TRAINER”
- A Project Plan, covering each of the lesson plans for each of the 5 day bootcamps.
- A set of learner resources for the educators, covering teaching methodologies as well as content
- Preparation and finalisation of the workshop arrangements with MKI
- Registers for attendees on a daily basis for the 5 days,
PLEASE SUBMIT A SHORT PROPOSAL UNDER THE FOLLOWING HEADINGS
- Brief CV highlighting the qualifications, subject content expertise and track record pertinent to this position (i.e. proven experience in the training of educators at Grade 12 level). Do not send a general CV.
- Brief Organisational profile, including track record in the specific scope of work required by the MKI (i.e. proven experience in the training of educators at Grade 12 level).This is optional for Organisations/Companies.
- Cost estimate for each bootcamp, assuming 5 days.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE in teaching the subject at Grade 12 level
- Proven experience in the current NATIONAL CURRICULUM STATEMENTS
- Proven experience in the transfer of skills in TEACHING METHODOLOGIES appropriate to the subject area.
- Submit a sample of your educator capacity building learner resources
- AVAILABILITY to undertake the project from 5 to 9 July 2010
