The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Moses Kotane Institute (MKI), Ms. Thandeka Ellenson presented on the mandate of the MKI at the Annual Youth Festival hosted by The Old Apostolic Church in Umlazi W – Cinema on 15 December 2019. The event was aimed at uplifting youth, giving them economic opportunities available in KwaZulu-Natal. Ms. Ellenson spoke about opportunities that are presented by the three pillars of MKI, Research, Innovation and Maritime. On research, she spoke about our recent Research Outputs such as commercialisation of Cannabis. On Innovation she spoke about opportunities presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, she then highlighted some of the MKI initiatives such as innovation hubs that are being rolled out by MKI across the province of KwaZulu-Natal. On Maritime she mentioned the oceans economy as an economic sector that Africans need to be aware and take advantages of.
