World Maritime Day was celebrated in Durban North Beach and Durban ICC from 10 to 11 of September 2019. The two-day event was organised by the Department of Transport, in partnership with the Moses Kotane Institute, South African Maritime Safety Authority, eThekwini Municipality and Siyasindisa Academy.UNIZULU visit

The University of Zululand’s (UNIZULU’s) Business Management Society comprising of 62 students and 2 staff members visited the Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) offices in Westville and Springfield, Durban, on the 19th of June 2019. Hosted by the MKI in collaboration with the Ray Nkoyane Local Municipality took place at the Ugu Sport and Leisure Complex on 26 November 2019. The Summit intended to promote entrepreneurship amongst Women and Youth specifically focusing on business opportunities within the Maritime industry (Oceans Economy) and Innovative business advantages presented by the Forth Industrial Revolution.Open Water Diving trials at Illovu Swimming Pool

The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) through its intervention to empower young people in Township and Rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday 04 February 2020 MKI conducted the selection trials for Learners that will be participating in Open Water Diving course that will take place from the 24th to 29th of March 2020.2020 Dusi Canoe Marathon

The Moses Kotane Institute participated in the 2020 Dusi Canoe Marathon, which takes place in February of every year. Canoe Marathon is a peddling sport in which athletes paddle a kayak or canoe over long distance. This year it was a 120KM marathon from Pietermaritzburg to Durban Blue Lagoon. The 2020 Canoe Marathon ran for three days, in which 41.7 KM was completed on day one, 42.6 KM was completed on day two and 35.4 KM on day three at Blue Lagoon.2020 Midmar Mile

Midmar Mile is a swimming race held annually in February at the Midmar Dam north of Pietermaritzburg. Each year it draws thousands of competitors from renowned international athletes and Olympic medallist to corporate teams. MKI swimming teams are participating in the Corporate Category. The event has proven to be a great success judging from the level of participants in attendance!
