The Moses Kotane Institute is an entity of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Government through the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), with a mandate to conduct world class research into training, skills development, and provincial strategic economic sectors; to strategically lead on innovation and maritime coordination and implementation activities to respond to the needs of provincial economy.

MKI is calling for entries for the 2020 Moses Kotane Institute Innovation Awards. The awards are aimed at recognising and celebrating South African individuals, organisations in KwaZulu-Natal with highly innovative products and services that address specific social and /or economic challenges. Innovations may be submitted in any format e.g. audio, video, etc. accompanied by the PDF documents describing the innovation.

Winners announcement – 20 March 2020
NB: Short listed candidate will be notified on the 17/01/2020. Moses Kotane Institute will cover the attendance costs to the Award Ceremony. Recipients to arrange their own travel and accommodation.

The Judges

The judging panel will be made out of three (3) MKI Senior Managers, four (4) Industry specific experts and two (2) EDTEA Senior Managers.

The Award

The winner in each category will receive cash price of R 55 000. Over and above that, they will get a chance to showcase their innovation during the award ceremony.
