The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ms Nomusa Dube-Ncube on Friday, 14 February 2020 launched a Digital Learning Centre in Bhamshela, Ndwedwe Local Municipality.
The fully-equipped centre was refurbished and digitised by MTN, following a commitment by the office of the SA President, to provide a library to the community. The Digital Learning Centre is equipped with 20 computer workstations and high-speed wifi connectivity which is open to use by the local community, businesses and learners
Speaking at the launch, Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams said: “For us to open this library today its a true resemblance that our government is a caring government, but most importantly we want to build a knowledgeable society and of course once that happens then we will have an active and innovative society that is responsive to the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
“We believe that this is an asset for our communities, it is important that we sensitise our communities about the importance of ensuring that we secure these assets with all that we have.” Says MEC Dube- Ncube. She also emphasised that the government is about connecting people, and also creating job opportunities.
