The Moses Kotane Institute in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) hosted an Innovation Dialogue on Blockchain at UKZN, Westville Campus on the 1st of November 2019. Blockchain experts gave their presentations, alluding to blockchain as a solution to social cohesion, efficient tendering process, to improving the methods of tracking the quality of farm produce in agriculture and so forth. What was common in their presentations, is that blockchain cannot be owned by one person. Mr James Preston spoke about cryptocurrencies, saying that there is no regulation preventing someone from starting their own cryptocurrency.
