Applications are invited for the position of the Research Maritime Development Practitioner based at La Mercy. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Maritime Manager.
BACKGROUND: The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) is looking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified South African Citizens to fill the position of a Maritime Development Practitioner. The Position will be responsible for implementation of Maritime Research and Development Programmes..
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have a valid Honour’s degree in Maritime Studies or related NQF level 8 qualification from an accredited tertiary institution; Minimum 3 years maritime research and/or maritime industry experience. A Valid driver’s license. A Master’s Degree would be an added advantage.
CORE COMPENTENCIES: Knowledge of maritime concepts, practices, and procedures, Good co-ordination and project management skills, Ability to work independently, accurately and to problem solve; Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills, Proactive; Planning & Organising Skills. Able to competently read and interpret written information, especially legislation and be computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Project).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Quality Control, Data Management and Project reporting
- Undertake Enterprise Development Research Projects
- Assist with writing research proposals for project
- Assist in the processes and requirements to obtain and/or maintain programme accreditation with the relevant quality assurance
- Monitor the project budget and report any deviations to the unit Manager.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: The incumbent to the above position will be offered a Permanent position with remuneration at DPSA level 10.
