The MKI held a successful KZN Youth and Renewable Energy sector forum at the Durban Olive Convention Centre on 29 November 2019. The purpose of this gathering was to disseminate research findings following a study undertaken by MKI in this regard. The findings of the study revealed that renewable energy present great opportunities in job creation from manufacturing, services and solutions. Professor Mira Slavova from Warwick Business School, England gave her presentation through Skype, looking at entrepreneurship opportunities within the renewable energy sector. Professor Slavova says her interest in this field was spark by load shedding that struck South Africa during her time in South Africa, between 2012 to 2016. She said this sustainable and environmentally friendly way of energy will create jobs and business opportunities for entrepreneurs.
