Climate Change Awareness
On 07 March 2020, the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube was at Alfred Duma Local Municipality where she was officially introduced to Traditional and Business Leaders as the MEC champion of the District. As part of her outreach programme MEC Dube-Ncube also visited the community of KwaSomsuka where she launched the Expanded Public Works Programme. She further handed over food parcels to poverty-stricken families.
In her address to the community, MEC Dube-Ncube said, “we are happy to announce the cable car project as it is one of the most iconic projects in the province’s history,” she also added that the project would showcase the range of tourism activities available in the Drakensberg region, including skiing, ziplining, and water activities. On climate change, she urged the community members to keep their communities clean through recycling.
